Animate a Pet Photo with AI (2026)
Drop a photo of your pet, describe the motion you want — tail wag, head turn, ears perk up — and EditThisPic generates a 6-second clip with audio. Fast tier costs 5 credits (~$2.50) and produces 720p. Pro tier costs 10 credits (~$4.99) and produces 1080p with a sharper motion model.
Static pet photos are great for printing. Pet photos that move are great for sharing — and they don't need a video shoot, a fancy phone, or your dog to cooperate twice.
Example motion prompts
Describe the motion you want. The more specific, the more intentional the clip feels.
-
Tail wag
the dog wags its tail enthusiastically while looking up at the camera -
Head turn
the cat slowly turns its head toward the camera, ears flicking -
Ears perk up
the dog's ears perk up as if it just heard a noise, eyes wide -
Sniff and blink
the puppy sniffs the air gently, blinks twice, settles -
Yawn
the cat yawns slowly, stretches its neck, settles back -
Camera push-in
slow cinematic push-in toward the pet's face, subtle ambient motion
How it works
-
1
Open the animate editor
Click the button above — it opens in animate mode with the prompt prefilled.
-
2
Drop your pet photo
JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 8 MB. Clear shots with the pet's face visible animate the best.
-
3
Describe the motion (or use a preset)
Plain English: "the dog wags its tail and looks up." Specific verbs beat vague ones.

Pick Fast or Pro and generate
Fast (5 credits, 720p) is great for social. Pro (10 credits, 1080p) is sharper. Audio is included on both. Renders in 45-120 seconds.
What to upload
- A clear photo of one pet with the face mostly visible — group photos and tiny subjects animate poorly
- Good lighting on the pet — backlit photos lose detail in motion
- Aspect ratio close to 16:9 (landscape) or 9:16 (vertical) — anything else gets letterboxed
- Avoid heavy motion blur in the source — the AI cannot un-blur the still before animating it
If the AI safety filter rejects an upload, your credits are automatically refunded. People-and-clothing photos refuse more often than landscapes, products, or pets.
What you can use this for
Memorial moments for a lost pet
Bring a beloved family pet back to life for a few seconds — a tail wag, an ear flick, a settled blink. Many families find this more comforting than a static portrait.
Social posts your friends actually stop scrolling for
A still photo of your dog gets a few likes. A 6-second clip of your dog wagging its tail and looking right at the camera consistently outperforms.
Pet sitter / dog walker portfolio
Show prospective clients the pets you've cared for — animated portraits convey personality far better than headshots.
Custom pet birthday / anniversary cards
Combine an animated pet clip with a music track or voice-over for a personalised digital greeting.
