Why won't you add my mom into this family photo — she's not in any of them?
We understand why you're asking, and we're sorry she's missing from your photos. But we don't insert a real person's likeness into a photo they weren't in, for anyone, including for exactly this reason. What we can do is restore, colorize, or improve any photo she IS in, so the ones you have look their best.
Is this a temporary limitation, or will you add this feature later?
It's permanent. This isn't a missing feature we haven't built yet — it's a decision not to build face insertion at all, because the same capability that reunites a family photo also fabricates evidence about a real person, and there's no way for us to check consent. That isn't going to change.
Does it matter that the person has passed away, or that we're related?
No. The policy applies the same way regardless of the relationship or the reason behind the request. We can't verify who's asking or whether the person being added would consent, so the answer doesn't change for family photos, memorials, or anything else.
Can I get around this by rephrasing my prompt?
No. It's evaluated by what the edit does, not the words used to ask for it. Calling it a reunion photo, a collage, or a memorial doesn't change the underlying request, so it gets the same answer.
What can you actually do with an old photo my relative is in?
A lot. Restore a torn or faded print, colorize a black-and-white portrait, change the background or setting, update clothing, remove an unrelated stranger from the shot, or sharpen a soft scan — all while keeping the person as they actually appear.
Will you colorize a photo of someone who has died?
Yes. Colorizing an existing photo — including one of someone who has passed away — is a standard edit. It's different from inserting them into a new scene: we're working with the photo they're actually in, not manufacturing one that never existed.
