Replace a Stranger in the Background with a Family Member

How it works

   Upload your photo

   Upload the photo with the unwanted stranger in the background — a vacation photo, event photo, or candid shot all work. The person you want to add in their place doesn't need their own separate photo; you'll describe them in the next step.

   Expect: Simple case: 20-30 seconds. Complex case (stranger overlapping other people or objects): 45-60 seconds and may need a follow-up refinement.

   Describe what you want

   Describe the stranger's location in the photo and who should take their place, e.g. 'replace the man standing near the fountain in the background with my brother, who has short brown hair and is wearing a gray jacket.' The more specific the description of the replacement person, the more consistent the result.

   Tip: Describe the family member's hair, build, and clothing rather than just their relationship to you — the AI can't know what 'my brother' looks like without details.

   Review the result

   Check that the new person's size, lighting, and shadow match the background they're standing in, and that nothing behind or beside them — other people, landmarks, objects — was disturbed by the swap.

   Refine with markers if needed

   If the AI edits the wrong person in a busy background, or the new person doesn't quite fit the scene, tap a marker directly on the stranger and reissue your instruction. Most single-stranger swaps work fine without this.

   Tip: Markers are for precision refinement, not a required step.
