   A flatbed scan at 300 DPI or higher shows scratch lines far more cleanly than a phone photo, where glare can hide shallow scuffs or invent new ones. JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 7MB.

   Expect: Thin scratches over background or clothing repair almost invisibly. A scratch through an eye or a mouth is a reconstruction of that feature, so check it closely.

   Describe where the scratches are

   Type what you see and where: 'remove the white scratch running diagonally across the woman's face and rebuild her features underneath.' Locating each scratch by direction and subject beats a general 'clean up this photo.'

   Tip: If there are many scratches, say so — 'multiple white scratches crossing the whole print' — so the AI treats it as a full surface pass rather than one line.

   Zoom in on what the scratch crossed

   Check the exact path the scratch took, especially across eyes, mouths, and hands. Those are rebuilt from context, and a repair that looks perfect at full size can be soft or subtly wrong when you zoom in.
